Summer Cocktails!

First up, we have the ‘Cherry Sour’. I don’t know about you, but a cocktail made with our delicious cherries sounds good to me! This recipe is the most complex on our list, but it’s still super easy! It will take a bit longer as the cherries will need to be pitted.

For this recipe, you will need:

  • A hand full of cherries (pitted)
  • 50ml of Lemon juice
  • 50ml of Lime juice
  • Cherry juice (to achieve the consistency you desire)
  • 50ml of Bourbon
  • 50ml of Brandy
  • 2 tablespoons of simple syrup (sugar dissolved in water)
  • Ice

(These ingredients make enough for 2 cocktails)

To begin, you will need to mash your pitted cherries, simple syrup and lemon and lime juice together. You can do this using a pestle and mortar or anything you think might do the job of smooshing all those ingredients together! The name of this cocktail is a ‘Cherry Sour’, so the aim of the game is to create a nice, sweet cherry-flavoured drink that has a kick of sourness to follow! Try your mixture as you go and you can always add more of any of the ingredients to suit your liking.

Once you’ve created your cherry concoction, add the Bourbon, Brandy and cherry juice and mix until combined.

Serve over ice and garnish with a cherry!

Next up is a Blackberry Margarita, perfect for the warmer weather. If you’ve ever bought blackberries from us, then you’ll know that they’re not like any others. They’re sweet but still offer a tiny hint of sour that makes them the perfect ingredient for a cocktail that will tickle your taste buds in all the right ways!

For this recipe, you will need:

  • 50ml of Tequila
  • 25ml of lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons of maple syrup (you could try switching this out for golden syrup or even our very own Haygrove Honey depending on what sort of sweetness you’re going for)
  • A handful of our delicious blackberries
  • Ice
  • and finally, a pinch of salt (as an ode to the classic margarita – which has a salt rim for garnish)

(These ingredients make enough for 2 cocktails)

All you’ll need to do for this recipe is blend the above ingredients in a blender until they form a liquid. If it’s really warm or even if it’s not but you just fancy trying it out, then you can also add some ice to the blender too and make a frozen margarita.

Pour your freshly made margarita through a strainer to catch any little seeds and then serve with a garnish of blackberries! Super simple and super delicious!

Last, but by no means least, for all the non-drinkers out there, a Strawberry Daiquiri Mock-tail recipe that is perfect for all and it includes one of our best-selling fruits – the Strawberry!

All you will need for this recipe is:

  • A handful of Strawberries
  • Simple syrup (sugar dissolved in water)
  • Lime Juice
  • Ice
  • Tonic water or lemonade (it’s entirely your choice which one of these you use, but both will give very different flavours – if you’re looking for something sweet then definitely opt for lemonade, but if you think the strawberries and syrup are enough sweetness for you, then go for tonic).

(These ingredients make enough for 2 mock-tails)

To make this mock-tail, you will need to mix your ingredients in a blender until they form a liquid. One thing about this drink is you want it to mimic the texture and consistency of an actual Daiquiri, so start by only adding a small amount of tonic or lemonade and add more as you go along. Don’t forget, the drink will melt as you drink it so the more slushy-like consistency you can get, the better!

Serve with a lime wedge and/or a strawberry and enjoy!
