World Refill Day and Our Commitment

World Refill Day is a global campaign to prevent plastic pollution and help people live with less waste. This is a global movement, celebrated on 16 June, and we have the power to create significant positive change; when we choose to reuse, we save millions of pieces of plastic to landfill and to our oceans. We also send a message to the rest of the world: that together, we can keep our environment, oceans, cities and communities plastic free.

While we at Berries Unlocked are a minimal-waste business, from our carbon-neutral fruit, to our renewable-energy that powers our vending machines, our offsetting strategies and our fruit donations to our local food bank, we know that plastic is a big problem. That’s why we have pledged to adopt recyclable punnets by the end of 2022, and we are working towards this goal with our supply chain partners.

However, in the meantime we want to do better. That’s why, if you purchase berries and cherries from our Ledbury stand while we are open throughout the summer season, you can return your punnets to us, and we will refill them for you with fresh fruit. This increases the life and circularity of the punnet and reduces waste, which we see as a no brainer!
